The Irishman has had a scan on his knee injury and the results have shown that there is no reason for him to miss Saturday’s game.
A club spokesman confirmed: "Shay has had his scan and there's nothing abnormal, just a bit of bruising. He is expected to play at the weekend."
Jenas returned to training on Tuesday following an operation to remove his wisdom teeth and although he won’t play in tonight’s England Under-21 game against Portugal he will be available for selection at the weekend.
Woodgate though is still troubled by his stomach problem and as he is yet to return to training must be regarded as a serious doubt.
Craig Bellamy is expected to play after coming through his fitness test in Milan, while Gary Speed, Andy O’Brien, Nobby Solano, Aaron Hughes, Steve Caldwell, Shola Ameobi, Hugo Viana and Kieron Dyer are all hoping to come through the midweek internationals unscathed.
