Joe Hart hopes wants that number one shirt to help him cement a place in Fabio Capello's starting XI for England's Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.
The 23-year-old made his first start for his country in Wednesday night's 2-1 friendly win over Hungary at Wembley, and it is the first of many to come.
Joe Hart: "It was nice to get the start but a few goalkeepers weren't involved in the squad so I'm going to have to keep my head down and play well at club level.
"It's going to be a huge challenge to stay as England number one. I can't take anything for granted.
"It will be very important that I'm playing regularly at City but we'll just have to wait and see who the manager picks on Saturday (for City's game against Tottenham).
"I have to be confident that I will start. I really want to play and I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully the manager will pick me."
