Shay Given could join Michael Owen and Shola Ameobi ready to make a return to action.
Shay Looking At Reading Return
The 31-year-old has missed the club's last two Premiership fixtures having suffered another groin problem during United's April 9 encounter with Arsenal.
But although it looked as though his season might have come to a premature end, the Irishman is hoping he will be passed fit for Monday's trip to the Madejski Stadium.
Shay Given: "It was a nasty challenge I took at West Ham and I've had a few problems with my groin since then.
"I'm going to do a lot more strength work this summer and hopefully I can put the injuries behind me. It has probably been my most frustrating season because I've missed so many matches.
"The recovery is going all right and I've got a chance of making the Reading game - we will just have to wait and see.
"Steve (Harper) always trains hard and it's credit to him that he keeps himself fit and that every time he comes in he does really well."
