"Newcastle have two strikers at the moment who are at the top of their game, and over the course of the season I don't think there is a better partnership," said the former England boss.
"Last year it was Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Eidur Gudjohnsen who were the best as a partnership, but these two have taken over.
"You know with Shearer and Bellamy in the side they are going to cause you problems because they are both talented players.
"They have a lot of offensive players behind them, notably Kieron Dyer, Jermaine Jenas, Laurent Robert and Nolberto Solano so they will try to attack.
"But we are an attacking team too, and we are at home, and the best way to play Newcastle is to attack them. It's the first night game we have played at White Hart Lane for a while and I always feel there is a bit of added atmosphere from our crowd.
"There is a bit of a mini-league going on and Newcastle are top of it at the moment. If we beat them we are only three or four points behind them, and then our next game is away at Chelsea who are also in that mini-league, so we have two big games this week."
With our record at White Hart Lane in recent years we’ll need to be at our best to repeat last season’s victory, but if we are to mount any kind of serious title challenge we need to be winning fixtures like this.
