Shearer Cast In Bronze

Freddy Shepherd said prior to Alan Shearer's testimonial: "We will build a statue to the man ... that is what we think about him." And that statue will be placed next to Jackie Milburn's, at the entrance to the Leazes End, within two months.
Shearer's decade of service to the club is to be marked by the bronze statue and it is fitting that it should be beside that of Milburn, the man whose 200-goal record he broke last season.
Milburn's has already been moved twice, but the new site is thought to be it's final resting ground.
