Shearer Did NOT Tell Chopra To Sign For Mackems!

He said after the game he still had to win over the Sunderland fans, but hoped the goal would help.
However, suggesting THE Toon legend - ALAN SHEARER - himself, told him to sign for the 'Unwashed' is hardly going to endear him to the Mackems ... is it?
Even more so when it is a load of bollocks!
Chopra: "I knew when I left Newcastle for Cardiff people had doubts about me playing in the Premiership.
"They said I had to drop down to the Championship because I was not good enough.
"I was desperate for someone to give me that chance in the Premiership and all thanks goes to the manager and Sunderland because he has paid the money for me. I have got to work hard, keep scoring and repay the manager.
"There was never a flicker of doubt in my mind about coming because it was Sunderland. I jumped at the chance. When someone like Roy Keane comes in for you, a man of his calibre and someone who has achieved what he has in the game, it means a lot.
"Sunderland were in the Premiership and it was a big opportunity to show people I can play in the Premiership. Scoring a goal on my debut, hopefully I have started to do that.
"I have always believed I am good enough. It was just getting the chance to play at Newcastle. It was ten or 15 minutes here and there and, when you have Alan Shearer and Michael Owen in the team, you won't play many games.
"I spoke to Alan before I went to Cardiff and he said it was the right thing to do. This time he just said if you have a Premiership team coming in for you, make the step back up. He didn't name a particular team, just that if anyone came in then go for it.
"I admire him and respect him as a player and a man. If I can achieve half of what he did at Newcastle here at Sunderland I would be a happy man. When he told me to go to Cardiff you knew it was the right decision.
"It was taking one step back to take two forward and that is how it has turned out."
