Frank Clark: "He's got the A-Licence but he can work in the Football League anyway, there are no regulations there.
"It wasn't a problem when he got the job on a temporary basis in the first place.
"The regulations now state that a manager or first-team coach needs to be going through the coaching process with the intention of going on to take the top qualification, which is the UEFA Pro-Licence.
"Alan's got his A-Licence so the next step is the Pro-Licence and I'm sure when he gets time he'll take that.
"If he takes the job I don't think he'll take the Pro-Licence in the next year because he'll have enough on his plate trying to get Newcastle back in the Premier League. The LMA have no issue with that. We offered our support when he got the job and we stand by that.
"But anybody can manage in the Football League - even you, with the greatest respect!"
