Shearer was at Dunston Federation Brewery's Lancastrian Suite last night as the club raised vital funds.
Shearer: "It's always good to see so many familiar faces. And it's nice to be back and it is always for a good cause because it is where it all started for me.
"I hope it continues to happen. And I hope that they continue to produce players that will go and play for Newcastle United.
"Wallsend Boys Club has had such a good conveyor belt. It would be a shame if it stopped now, but I don't think it will.
"I love my life at the moment. I am watching more football now than I ever have. If I'm not watching it on the screens it will be at the ground.
"It's great for me because I love the game so much. It's very different to playing of course, and it doesn't beat playing.
"But it's enjoyable because I love the game. It never bothers me watching as many games as I can.
"Sometimes I watch three or four games every Saturday."
