The 32-year-old believes that he can carry on adding to his 145 United goals for another two seasons yet, and is relishing the prospect of returning to the Champions League next season.
"I have a lot of young legs around me doing a lot of my running which at times makes my job easy," Shearer told BBC Radio5Live.
"I still have a year left on my contract and hopefully I can do another year after that."
He continued: "The more times we qualify for the Champions League, the more we will learn and the better we will become.
"It took Manchester United a long time to learn from their experiences and you don't learn if you are in one year and out for three."
