Newcastle risk buying new players despite not knowing who will be in charge next term with Shearer refusing to fully commit himself permanently to the post while question marks remain over Joe Kinnear's future plans.
Talking to the media yesterday Shearer always refered to Newcastle as "they", keeping his distance from any more speculation of him taking over the job from Kinnear.
The fact remains, Shearer WILL be on Match Of The Day next season ... but will Newcastle?
The interim boss told reporters Newcastle are already "looking for new players" and have already made a move on a couple.
BUT who is bringing those players to the club? Who WANTS them, if we haven't got a manager in place? Again pointing to Mike Ashley's strange way of doing business.
Alan Shearer: "Signing players still happening," Shearer confirmed even though executive director (football) Dennis Wise, whose job it was to recruit new players, has left the club.
"There have been one or two tweaks to the system, but it all has to happen for next season.
"That's for the benefit of the football club next season."
