David Moyes could be about to make his first signing as West Ham manager by bringing Jonjo Shelvey to the London Stadium, according to reports.
The Daily Express claim that talks between the clubs have progressed over the past few days and the midfielder could well be set to make a return to the capital.
Shelvey has been in and out of the Newcastle team this season but the Magpies will only let him depart providing they have a replacement lined up.
However, despite the reports from the Express, the Newcastle Chronicle claim that Rafa Benitez is unlikely to sanction any deals to possible relegation rivals.
Benitez, speaking about a potential move for Joe Hart earlier in the month, said: "No, we are not going to talk about names, but it is very difficult for a team in their position to do a deal with us."
If a £12million move for Shelvey doesn't materialise, Moyes is said to have a number of alternative options in mind.
