Shepherd is confident that Bowyer will prove to be a success at Newcastle, but has admitted that the growth in the size of the squad can’t continue unchecked.
"There is always natural wastage anyway and every club gets their ins and outs and that is what will happen at Newcastle," he told Sky Sports News.
He didn’t drop any hints as to who the players would be, but one name that has been mentioned in most of the papers on Saturday morning is Nobby Solano, particularly with Brett Emerton still tipped to come in.
Nobby didn’t have his best season last time out but still contributed some vital goals and assists, and during his five years at the club has been amongst our best performers.
If Bowyer replaces Nobby it would be a disgrace.
