The Magpies have yet to score a goal in the Premiership this season, but hopes have been raised after signing England striker Michael Owen from Real Madrid and Nolberto Solano from Aston Villa ... as well as Spain forward Albert Luque from Deportivo La Coruna.

Shepherd: "It was a disappointing start but we got the three players we wanted and we set out to get, it was a bit late but better late than never.
