Shepherd has moved closer to buying Real Mallorca after holding takeover talks on Friday.

Mallorca host United in a four-team tournament at the start of August, and I'd LOVE to be a fly on the wall when Toon chairman Mike Ashley rubs shoulders with the man he kicked out of St James' Park.

That will indeed be a day to remember.

Shepherd met with Mallorca president Vicente Grande in Palma to discuss a deal estimated to be worth 40 million euros (£31.5 million).

The Sunday Sun claims a formal offer for a 93 per cent shareholding in the Balearic club is imminent, with a deal possibly agreed within the next 10 days.
