Shepherd Won't Be Sunning Himself On Sunday
Chairman Freddy Shepherd will jet out on a sunshine holiday before we play Blackburn on Sunday and that may suggest Graeme Souness will still be in a job come Monday. I said on Saturday at 3:50pm that the manager was 45 minutes from the sack after another clueless inept horror show, and seeing Shepherd leave his seat at the final whistle he looked in need of his holiday. Wherever he may be on Sunday, Freddy will not be on the beach, he will be glued to the box ... and hopefully next to a phone.
There is a lot of talk in football that should United lose at Ewood Park, then Souness is in danger of being shown the door. Shepherd pledged in May he would not take a holiday until all United's transfer business had been done.
Freddy has stayed true to his word. Obviously the United board are not happy with the way the team has started off, and I don't believe for a second action will not be taken should we watch another 90 minutes of humiliation. Souness defended himself last weeken saying: "I wanted Michael Owen'e debut to be away from St James' Park". Why ? God only knows. But he won't be at SJP on Sunday, so let's see what happens.
