Shola Ameobi: “The fans are obviously frustrated, and that’s understandable.
“When you lose four in a row, it’s going to be very frustrating and no one’s enjoying the position we’re in.
“As players, we find ourselves in a tough situation at the moment and it’s no use disguising that. It’s not for a lack of trying though.
“I think we showed against Stoke that we desperately wanted to get something out of the game. We just have to keep on plugging away.
“I’ve been at Newcastle for long enough now to know that things can go from very bad to very good in a short space of time.
"It’s not the first time we’ve had a tough situation at Newcastle, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. We just have to keep on working hard, and hopefully it’ll turn.
“When you’re not winning games, it’s very hard to get yourself out of that kind of run. It can sort of spiral and, as players, we’re probably a bit short of confidence at the moment because of the lack of wins.
“It doesn’t help when you come to a tough place like this, play pretty well, but still leave with nothing because things go against you.
“We created the chances, so to come away with nothing is just very disappointing.
"It’s been a very frustrating time. It was a tough game and I had to get my legs again, but I enjoyed it.
"I just enjoy playing in the team and trying to help out however I can. It was just frustrating that we didn’t make anything of our chances.”
