Steve Sidwell has revealed his decision to quit Chelsea for Aston Villa was "a no-brainer" despite interest from Newcastle and "a number of clubs".
The 25-year-old completed his £5million move after signing a three-year deal.
Sidwell told the club's official website: "No disrespect to the other clubs - I'm not naming them but there was a lot of interest - but even before contact was made with Aston Villa, this was the club I wanted to join.
"As soon as I sat down with the manager and he outlined his ambition and where he wants to take the club, for me it was a no-brainer. Martin O'Neill really does sell his vision for this club. He's a great man with great enthusiasm."
