Simpson/Pardew Fall Out? What Is The Story?

Last updated : 29 June 2013 By Footy Mad - Editor

If you look at the former Newcastle defender's record on the pitch, it is an exciting signing. Simpson is a committed right back, he gets forward, is excellent tracking back and looks the archetypal professional.

And at 26, he is a good age with plenty of football left in him - even taking into account that full-backs in general tend to have a shorter shelf life.

But off the field, Danny Simpson sets off a couple of alarm bells.

The fact that a professional footballer, and a father of a young daughter to boot was to be found after a heavy night out in a kebab shop queue at 4am is not ideal.

And then there is the past history with the ladies. He does have a love of partying. And the bright lights of London will be a distraction given that he has got himself into bother before in far less exciting surroundings.

He was a free signing and it's interesting to ask why no Premier League club took him on.

Is he a risk? There's a story still to come out of Newcastle as to why he fell out with Alan Pardew.

He was on £10,000 a week, the lowest of all the first team squad, and when you consider Mike Williamson is on £40,000 you can understand Simpson's frustration.

But there is a story still to tell, and I'm sure one day we will hear it.
