The young defender endured a sticky start to his Toon career, but his form since returning from a hamstring injury has been exceptional and that has not surprised Sir Bobby.
"I am very pleased with Titus. But we always knew what we were buying when we brought him here," he told the Evening Chronicle.
"We bought him not so much on what he did last season, because really he had an iffyish season and it was a good time to buy him.
"The year before when he played and Ipswich finished fifth he played most of the time and he had some marvellous matches.
"Now I am very pleased with his performances. Coming to a big club like this is not always easy but he has recovered very well and he has done great for us.
"He knows he is in a large group of central defenders we have here and if he wants to stay in the team he will have to continue to play as he is doing."
