With speculation rife as to who will replace the suspended pair Craig Bellamy and Alan Shearer, Sir Bobby has indicated that Shoal Ameobi and Lomana Lua Lua will be given the job.

"We're eternal optimists and I'm optimistic that the two kids will do very well for us," Robson told the Sunday Sun.

"They won't be fazed. They won't go out thinking: 'Geez, I shouldn't be here'. Shola is a proud player and LuaLua is dying for a chance.

"I'm unhappy about Alan and Craig and extremely disappointed about them not being available, but I have to forget them.

"There's nothing they can do for us and I've got to be positive about the two players coming in - and I think the two kids will do very, very well, They'll be alright.

"Carl Cort will probably figure as a substitute. He's capable of doing things as well."

Michael Chopra also looks set for a place on the bench after UEFA confirmed that the club has registered him for the Champions League.
