Former Toon striker Les Ferdinand has emerged as the favourite to be the next Swindon manager after Sky Bet reported a run of bets.
The Tottenham coach reportedly heads a strong list of candidates for the position, which was vacated by Kevin MacDonald following a disappointing five-month spell in charge.
The job would represent a first managerial role for Ferdinand, who joined the Spurs coaching staff in 2008 along with Tim Sherwood, who is also considered a contender.
Sherwood is, however, rated a 20/1 chance to take the reins at the League One club, with Paul Hartley the 2/1 second favourite followed by former England Under-21 manager Stuart Pearce (9/1).
Sky Bet Football Trader Chris Spicer said: "We'd expect a appointment to be made fairly soon with pre-season well under way and it they money implies that it's a decision between Ferdinand and Sherwood."
