The 39-year-old ended his 19-year-old playing career at Hartlepool in 2012, then spent time coaching in Peru and Canada.
The Monkey Hangers are looking for their third manager of the season after boss Paul Murray and former Newcastle reserve team coach Willie Donachie were sacked following the 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Blyth Spartans.
He knows, with Hartlepool looking as though they heading out of the league, it is the toughest job in football, but it hasn't put him off.
Nobby Solano (talking to the Monkey Hanging News): “I want to prove myself. I want to show what I can do as a manager.
“Hartlepool United - why not? It is an opportunity.
“It is a really difficult time for the club, but it’s a challenge.
“Life is a challenge all the time so it would be nice to get at least the opportunity.
“I’m looking anywhere.
“Maybe there are too many managers around.
“My philosophy in football is I would always like to play football.
“Even if you play in League One, League Two, you need to play. You need to be at that level. You need to bring more quality.
“That’s my philosophy."
