St James' A "Super-Positive" Stadium?

Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce warned Glenn Roeder last Saturday that he had better start "looking over his shoulder" because some of the relegation threatened sides are on the way up.

Pardew says he already has Aston Villa in his sights, and Roeder knows he cannot take Sheffield United for granted this weekend or the Mags could be sucked into the quick-sand.

The Addicks would move out of the bottom three for the first time since mid-September should they get at least a point at Manchester City on Good Friday with Sheffield United and Wigan, the teams directly above them, not playing until Saturday.

Pardew: "We are five points off Aston Villa - and I would not be sitting too comfortably if I were them. I know that feeling myself, and that is why we have to keep applying the pressure.

"For sure, it is going to affect them, the bigger clubs more so. It gets to a point where the stadium becomes affected, and psychologically it becomes a problem. We do not have that - we have a super-positive stadium.

"I would suggest that without doubt of the bottom eight clubs, our stadium is the most positive. That in itself is an advantage.

"But it does not really matter about anyone else. It is about us - we need to win."
