Steve Bruce Provides Update on Allan Saint-Maximin's Newcastle Future

Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce is confident that winger Allan Saint-Maximin will still be at the club next season.

The Frenchman joined the Magpies from Ligue 1 side Nice for just £16.5m last summer and has quickly settled into his role as the main man at St. James' Park.

The 23-year-old was in exceptional form in midweek, registering three assists in his side's 4-1 victory over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

With his displays unsurprisingly drawing praise from fans and pundits alike, there may be a slight worry that the Magpies may lose their star attraction to one of Europe's elite.

However, Bruce - in an interview with the Guardian - was quick to praise the the pacy wide-man: “I wouldn’t put a price on Allan now, When you look at the level of money we bought him for, he’s arguably the best pound-for-pound signing in the Premier League. You show me another better.

"When you look at what he’s produced for us, we have probably got the buy of the season. He’s blessed with unique skills, which he’s got in abundance," added the former Aston Villa manager.

Steve Bruce has proved the doubters wrong this season

Bruce continued to say that: “There’s no chance of Allan leaving, No chance at all," while he also claimed he wasn't shy of criticising the young man:

“There have been one or two moments when I’ve lost my temper with Allan, he needs to be reminded of certain things now and again but the great thing about him is he just loves playing football."

Saint-Maximin has recorded just three goals and four assists in the league this season, but it is his overall play that impressed many this season.

Newcastle are up against West Ham on Sunday, and here's a preview of that clash...
