Daryl Murphy admits he is in control of his own destiny at Newcastle United.
The Republic of Ireland international has yet to feature in the Sky Bet Championship in a black-and-white shirt, but is now fully fit and raring to go.
Ahead of the visit of Rovers, Murphy told the Chronicle: “I feel in good shape. Hopefully I will be involved.
“It’s now up to me to catch the manager’s eye in training day-in, day-out. It’s then up to him.”
Murphy was the Championship’s top scorer in 2014/15 when he grabbed 27 for Ipswich Town.
And he hopes to get back into the swing of things.
Asked about using his experience of the division to full advantage, he replied: “Definitely, I am just itching to go now.
“I have been for quite a while, and I am delighted to be back from injury.
“It is looking good. In this league, it is about consistency and we have had that so far.
“With the squad, we have the gaffer can change things at any time and he can bring on players who are just as good as the players who are playing.”
