It’s already January 8th.
Is it time for Newcastle United fans to start to worry?
By this stage of the new year, most Magpies fans were hoping that Amanda Staveley’s Newcastle takeover would be signed, sealed and delivered.
Fans were hoping the club would be ready to sign key players in January to keep them in the Premier League.
Yet, right now it feels like the whole takeover may be stalled.
For the record, sitting 13th in the table, Newcastle have 22 points after 22 games.
The Toon are just two points above the drop zone.
On Monday the Newcastle Chronicle have posted an update on the possible takeover.
In short the deal appears to be stalled over money. Reader are told:
Simply, the two parties left things after the last round of talks with a distance between them on valuation. £50m is the claimed figure which is about right.
There are areas of agreement which point to something getting agreed in the medium-term, but until that gap is bridged one way or another, it’s not going to go through.
Will the parties reach agreement before the window is closed? Right now it’s hard to say are both sides seem to be playing a game of chicken.
