Four of United’s next six Premier League games are on the road, starting with their trip to Stoke City on Wednesday night, and yet the Magpies have lost each of their last five matches away from St James’ Park.
What’s more, Newcastle have collected just seven points away from Tyneside this season, and have scored a meagre seven goals on the road in 2015-16.
With trips to Leicester City, Norwich City and Southampton swiftly following the Stoke match - as well as clashes at Liverpool and Aston Villa later on in the campaign - Taylor knows that United’s woeful away form simply has to improve if the Magpies are to maintain their top-flight status.
Taylor, speaking about the humbling at Stamford Bridge, said: “The lads knew it. Everyone accepted responsibility. The gaffer knew it.
“We have to look at the goals and we’ve got to improve our away form.
“It’s not good enough. It’s worrying. Four of the next six games are away, and it’s a difficult time.
“We have to stick together. We’ve got players coming back from injury.”
