The Toon boss is looking for a goal-scoring central defender.
Alan Pardew: “Set plays have been really disappointing this year and I am contemplating bringing in someone because we don't have a dominant header of the ball.
“On the scouting front, we are looking at a centre-half who can come and score us eight goals next season.
“We are saying to Steven Taylor and Mike Williamson, 'Are you going to bring that for us', and putting a bit of pressure on those guys to improve.”
Taylor has scored 13 goals for Newcastle in 9 seasons, and Williamson is yet to score for the club (although he has scored 15 goals in ten seasons in his career).
But, let's look at Vincent Kompany - arguably the best central defender in the Premiership - he has only scored three goals in 41 appearances this season.
John Terry has scored six in 43 appearances for Chelsea.
