A ridiculous piece of jouranism, with no basis in fact. No quote from the player or his father, just a load of junk conjured up to make a headline and sell newspapers.
As we reported this morning - Taylor has no intention of quitting Newcastle United - whether or not he is dropped for tonight's game against Derby County.
The Sunday Sun article has infuriated the England Under-21 captain, who insists he is as committed as ever to the club he has supported since childhood, despite the contractual wrangle.
A source close to the player said: "It's nonsense - there's absolutely no truth in it whatsoever.
Taylor Blasts Sunday Sun!
"Steven would never dream of making any demands on the manager - it's his decision to pick the team, and his alone. Steven has always respected the manager's decision, and always will.
"To say today is D-Day is ridiculous. Steven wants to stay, and the manager has gone on record saying he wants him to stay, so there's no problem. This report is a complete fabrication, and very hurtful to Steven.
"Steven's a Newcastle United supporter and playing for the club means everything to him.
"He has turned down the club's first offer, but that's normal in contract negotiations and Steven hopes to agree a new deal as quickly as possible."
Contract talks between Taylor and the club could resume this week, with chairman Christopher Mort planning to meet the 21-year-old's father Alf, who is handling negotiations on his behalf.
