His wild celebration took him the full length of the St James' Park pitch, which saw him dubbed 'Forrest Gump' by his team-mates.
Taylor: "We have managed to qualify and that means a lot to everybody. I am absolutely delighted.
"It was the best night of my life - I think you could tell by my celebration. Maybe it was a little bit over the top, but I just could not stop running and celebrating.
"It has been coming. I was definitely due one and it could not have happened any better, scoring the winner against Celta Vigo.
"You could see by my celebration how much it meant to me. It was my first goal for Newcastle and to score it at the Gallowgate End was unbelievable.
"It was a great feeling. I cannot explain what was in my head.
"I saw it come over Titus (Bramble) and there was no reason why I could not score. I just stuck my head on it and it was in the back of the net.
"All the lads just stopped running. It was one of the best experiences of my life and I made sure I celebrated in a good manner.
"We are playing much better as a team with more confidence and belief in ourselves. We went a goal behind last night, but the lads did not drop their heads, they got on with it and Antoine got a great goal and we had a lot better feeling.
"But we need to build on that performance. Our main priority at the moment is Portsmouth on Sunday. Hopefully we can take this result and performance into that game and get what we want out of it."
