The Day Vinnie Jones Got A Standing Ovation At SJP!
Steven Taylor: "Joe took me to one side during training last week and told me he had complete confidence in me and explained what he wanted from me.
"As a result, I was back on top of the world at Goodison Park last week and I hope I went a little way to repaying the confidence he has had in me.
"Joe hasn't been with us very long but if there is one thing we have learned about him it's that he is very much a man's man. He takes no prisoners.
"And I think some of the guys in the media know this now.
"The new boss thinks that we have become a soft touch on this score and he has made it clear that this has all got to stop. Let's just say he wants us to be more aggressive.
"I can remember Wimbledon coming up here and Joe was the manager. Their keeper was either injured or sent off and Vinnie Jones went in goal and our fans gave him a standing ovation.
"It must be the only time Vinnie got cheered on an away ground, so it's not just now that strange things happen at Newcastle.
"They have always happened and I suppose they always will."
