According to the bookies, there are 12 men in the frame to replace Rafa.
Obviously it is bullshit, but the bookies love an open field to 'encourage' a flutter or two.
Man City assistant Mikel Arteta is the favourite to become the new Newcastle United boss at 3/1.
The second favourite is the Belgian national boss Roberto Martinez (4/1), while Neil Redfearn – our current U-23 coach and a hugely uninspiring option – comes in as the third favourite at 7/1.
That seems dodgy in itself, because there would be uproar if Redfearn WAS appointed, but someone is sure to slap a tenner on him.
The top 12 candidates according to William Hill’s odds today:
3/1 Mikel Arteta
4/1 Roberto Martinez
7/1 Neil Redfearn
8/1 Sean Dyche
12/1 David Moyes
14/1 Claudio Ranieri
16/1 Garry Monk
16/1 Jose Mourinho
16/ Patrick Vieira
16/1 Steven Gerrard
20/1 Gennaro Gattuso
20/1 Giovanni van Bronckhorst
Mourinho and Vieira are in the top 10 at 16/1 each, but both have distanced themselves from the job in recent weeks.
