"The England Under-21 centre-half has rejected the offer of a new five-year deal and Liverpool have already been linked with a move to take him to Anfield.
"But the Guardian reports that Spurs have also been following Taylor and are ready to make their own offer if they believe he is available.
"Taylor is young, English and a class act, ticking all the boxes required to be filled by most of Spurs' signings.
"And with doubts refusing to die down about the long term health of Ledley King, he would be a perfect addition to a defensive unit which currently features exciting youngsters Michael Dawson and Younes Kaboul."
