Sunderland parted company with manager Simon Grayson within minutes of the final whistle in their 3-3 home draw with Bolton.
Grayson's men trailed to Newcastle old boy Sammy Ameobi's early effort, but led through Lewis Grabban's double before Gary Madine and Karl Henry struck.
That left the Black Cats heading for the bottom of the pile until Paddy McNair's first ever league goal rescued a point.
OK, Sammy wasn't the man who got him the sack ... but he will be tagged with it by happy Toon fans.
