Boro took the player right from under Graeme Souness' nose, as Newcastle looked set to sign him, and now Lua Lua says his old team-mate will go on to become as good as Alan Shearer.

"He is a different kind of player to Al and relies a lot more on his pace. Most of Yak's goals are from inside the penalty area whereas Shearer scores from everywhere. Yakubu is still young and still learning but he scored 19 to 20 goals a season every season and that is not easy in the Premiership.
"He has been linked with some of the bigger clubs and I can see him going on to play for someone like Chelsea or Arsenal."
