The One Toon Player Shearer Never Seemed To Like!

Yes, you can't say Robinson was a shy lad.

And I've lost count of the time Shearer has told that story of the penalty against Sheff Wednesday on Sir Bobby Robson's home debut at Toon boss.

United ran out 8-0 winners that day, Shearer scoring five, and that seemed to be too much for young Robinson who tried to pinch the ball to take a penalty, saying: "you've scored enough, let me get one".

Shearer put the upstart in his place, told him to "F*** off!" ... then took the spot kick.

We hear this weekend that Robinson has joined Beaconsfield SYCOB as they bid to halt their slide towards relegation.

The 32-year-old was infamously blamed for getting legendary Dutch midfielder Ruud Gullit sacked at St James' Park after he picked Robinson ahead of Geordie hero Alan Shearer in defeat to bitter rivals Sunderland in 1998.

He went on to sign for Wimbledon in a £1.5m but struggled to make an impact and dropped down the football pyramid.

The striker has had trials at Hayes & Yeading and Hendon this season but has ended up in the Southern League Division One Central dropzone.
