Glenn Roeder said he looked around his players at half-time and said there was a hero in the making, and Sibierski again struck the vital blow to claim the headlines.

Roeder: "I said to him at half-time: 'In this dressing room, there is a hero waiting to happen. It could be you'.

"He reminded me of that when he came back into the dressing room because he scored the all-important goal.

"He accepted he was not a high-profile signing, got on with it and he has let his football do the talking."
