Of course if you examine what Sir Bobby actually said, he made no such claim.
"Shearer, van Nistelrooy and Henry are all very different strikers. It is wonderful we can marvel at their ability in the position despite them being completely different types of player.
"Henry and van Nistelrooy are two young dashing types just coming to the prime of their careers. Of course Alan Shearer is now just over that.
"But for what he has been and what he still is I reckon he is outstanding and a truly great traditional English centre forward. And he just keeps on going."
Of course many of you may well agree with the Daily Mirror and whilst I would never want to lose Shearer, Henry would be a very welcome (if a little unlikely) addition to the team.
