Newcastle boss Steve Bruce is looking to strengthen this month, with three or four areas of the squad he would like to improve. He knows, though, that a lot will be determined by who he can move on given his squad is already full.
Newcastle have been heavily linked with plenty of players, with Genk’s Mbwana Samatta, Liverpool’s Adam Lallana, Burnley’s Dwight McNeil, Hull’s Jarrod Bowen and Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater all on the radar. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, however, has told Granit Xhaka he would like him to stay at the Emirates following his arrival.
Bruce said: “The injuries aren’t going to change my thoughts for the window. We might get four or five back in the next week or two. If there is somebody out there we can get who will make us better we will try.”
