Tiote said he was not fit to play for Newcastle, but played two games in four days for the Ivory Coast.
Pardew's only reply to questions suggesting the player refused to play for him was: "I will have a word with the Ivory Coast".
Toon fans have been in open revolt against Pardew and that will continue at Stoke on Monday evening, for sure.
The air of chaos and farce surrounding St James’ Park deepened over the weekend with reports that Ashley told a reporter outside a London pub that Pardew would be “finished” if his side do not beat Stoke on Monday.
Alan Pardew: “We obviously had a team fighting for Tiote's services, but the finance was never really in place.
“I think his contract situation needs to be resolved at the end of the season, for sure. I think he is happy at this club. But it was a period of being unsettled for him.
“I think, probably, towards the back-end of the season we’ll have to start talking to his representatives. You do need big players at this football club.
“I love him. He’s everything that you want in a Newcastle player. He has the quality and, of course, you’ll never underestimate the fact that he wants to win.
"That’s something we have to be very careful about on training days!
“I think young players here need to take a big leaf out of his book in terms of how he approaches training and games.”
