Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote is hoping to secure a move to Chinese Super League in January, according to Sunderland Echo.
He made a dramatic start at Newcastle and for a time was a fan's favourite.
But in recent seasons he hasn't been worthy of his wage.
Like so many foreign players at the club, the buzz soon left him.
The 30-year-old came close to joining Shanghai Shenhua last winter, but his proposed £4million move never materialised.
Now, the Ivory Coast midfielder is hoping to finally secure a big-money transfer by moving to the Far East this January.
La Liga side Sporting Gijon have also expressed an interest in the player, but the report claims that he would prefer a move to China as he expects to earn more money in the Chinese League.
Tiote has six months left on his current deal with the Magpies.
