Rafael Benitez has questioned whether or not his Newcastle side are ready for the demands of the Premier League after a disappointing start to the season.
Despite guiding the Magpies to a Championship last season, the Spanish manager has struggled so far in the top-flight both on the pitch – losing his first two league games – as well as in the transfer window.
“My experience in the Premier League is that you have to take your chances because, if you make mistakes you will pay for that,” said Benitez after his side lost 1-0 to Huddersfield at the weekend.
“It’s maybe because it’s a learning process so we have to learn quickly, maybe it’s too soon for us,” he said.
When questioned on if that learning process would take longer than people would expect, Benitez replied: “Yes, for sure.”
