The former Manchester United and Leeds United striker was the top scorer in qualifying for Euro 2008 despite playing for minnows Northern Ireland but only managed a disappointing six goals for the Cottagers last season.

Roy Hodgson has been furiously revamping his squad this summer, bringing in strikers Bobby Zamora and Andrew Johnson as two of 10 signings so far.

He would be willing to accept £1.5m for a player that then-Leeds manager Dennis Wise sold to Fulham.
