Steven Taylor: “I’m so glad Chris got the job – he’s just got the team spirit in such good shape.
“I don’t think we have ever had such good team spirit since I’ve been here.
“Now we’re sticking together on the pitch, and that showed at Barnsley again.
“Chris is a massive influence, along with Colin Calderwood. They go round and encourage everybody.
“The boss has got the human touch too. There were a few lads who didn’t play on Saturday and they knew exactly why.
“Most managers wouldn’t even say anything.
“He gets the respect from the players in that way – it takes a big man to do that.
“I think he’s been fantastic and the lads love him to bits.”
