Tavernier will remain on loan at League One promotion-chasers MK Dons – but Pardew has insisted on an “instant recall” clause on his current temporary arrangement should either Mike Williamson or James Perch go down injured during the run-in.
Tavernier has played for Carlisle, Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons this season in various loan deals.
Alan Pardew: “I’ve got instant call-back on Tav. He’s playing for MK Dons, and I want to keep him in the zone. But if I lose another centre-half, Tav can come back.
“Tamas Kadar’s injured at the minute. It’s a little bit unlucky on that front.
“We knew we were a little bit bare there at the start of the season.
“And we’re not just looking to bring in a centre-half at senior level, but maybe one or two at junior level.”
