Bottles were thrown at Newcastle fans and a gang of around 200 Anderlecht and Bruge fans charged down the street trying to coax the Geordies to fight.
They stayed behind after the game to cause trouble, but as the gates were opened and the Toon fans left the ground the Belgians legged it down the street. Not as bold as the Dutch or Germans, more sly using the "let's throw something and run away" type of mentality.
Toon Fans Get Police Warning
But ... the Geordie fans tempted to travel to Belgium without tickets for Newcastle United's Uefa Cup tie have been warned not to bother or they could end up being arrested. So say the Belgian police.
Only 650 tickets have been allocated to Magpies fans for the match against Zulte-Waregem in Waregem on Thursday.
However, one good point is that Northumbria Police are travelling over to work closely with Belgian Police ahead of the match. At least ONE force who are not heavy handed.
