But last night Xisco bagged a brace against Wigan Reserves in United's 5-0 win at St James's Park, then said he wanted first team football.
Xisco (talking to the Chronicle): "You're always happy when you play, and if you score it's even better, but playing is the most important thing.
"It was a very good ball from Ryan Donaldson for the first goal, and for the second goal, I was alone in the box.
"To score two goals was good.
"I feel pain in my toe and it was inflamed. I will have to wait and see how bad it is.
"But I came to Newcastle to play in the first-team and I will play in the reserves to build fitness. It's OK.
"It had been a long time without playing in the first team, and even to get a minute on Saturday on the pitch was good.
"It was very important to win, and the next two games will be important for us."
Colin Calderwood: "We had one or two senior boys playing and coming back from injury.
"Everybody got something out of it. What was pleasing was the attitude and the application.
"The senior lads led by example, and Xisco and Alan Smith did well."
