Newcastle have Steve Harper sidelined with injury and Frazer Forster is on loan at Celtic, so Krul knows this is his best ever chance to claim the goalkeeper's jersey as first choice.
Tim Krul: "I'm with the Under-21s, and I just have to look after myself.
"I know what's more important, it's playing in the Premier League for Newcastle.
"I just have to be careful and play my own game. I'm feeling good at the moment.
"We have to take positives into the next home game against Wigan.
"We have to get back to winning games – it's disappointing to lose two games like that.
"We have to be careful – we thought we could beat Stoke and Blackpool.
"We have to go into the game like we did against Manchester City – we didn't have any nerves.
"Fair enough, against Stoke, we weren't good enough, but I thought we were good enough against Manchester City.
"If we play like this, we won't have to worry. We outclassed the most expensive team – it was a great game, but it was just a shame we couldn't get a draw.
"We have to have a great attitude. We just have to stick together. In this league, anything can happen in a split second."
