Alan Pardew is in the market for another striker after confirming Demba Ba is on the verge of signing for Chelsea ... and Remy is his top target.
Pardew has already announced that Papiss Cisse will step forward and replace Ba as the club’s leading marksman, but Newcastle want another versatile hitman to act as cover and competition.
Remy is likely to cost upwards of £10million but has a proven goalscoring record in Ligue 1 – having bagged 39 goals in 95 appearances for the likes of Lyon, Lens, Nice and now Marseille.
Chelsea and QPR have both previously been linked with Remy, but neither have made their interest official.
