Newcastle United and Premier League clubs Everton and Southampton are in the race to sign former Real Madrid striker Willian José, claim reports from the Mirror.
The Brazilian, who currently plies his trade at La Liga outfit Real Sociedad, has netted 10 times in 18 appearances for the Spanish club this season, since his arrival from Deportivo Maldonado.
José has been subject to seven loan moves in his career, one of those being a stint at the Bernabeu, where he made just one appearance for the European giants.
The report from the Mirror suggests that Ronald Koeman is prepared to bid £27 million for the forward, as a potential replacement for talisman Romelu Lukaku, however Newcastle, who have been hit with an injury crisis as of late, could look to rival the Toffees as well as Southampton in pursuit of the striker.
Although it is hard to see Rafa Benitez match Everton’s potential £27million offer, the Magpies definitely need back up for Dwight Gayle and Aleksandar Mitrovic, especially if they are to be promoted to the Premier League this season, which looks ever more likely by the day.
